TOPIK 54 writing guide: scoring, a 5-paragraph structure and a model essay

Question 54 (쓰기 54번) is a 600–700 character argumentative essay worth half of the TOPIK II writing score. This page covers how it is scored, a structure that fits the three sub-questions, the spoken-style mistakes that cost points, and one full model answer.

How TOPIK 54 is scored

Raters score three areas. More than half of the 50 points is language use, so accuracy and written style matter more than original ideas.

TOPIK 54 model essay:

Praise: its effects and how to praise well. Practice prompt written in the style of Q54 (not an official past question).

Prompt sub-questions
